I was asked by a few English speaking people to write a review on Comvita and their honey products. So, I figured, why not.

There are a few really good products out there, in terms of honey. But, nothing really measures up to the UMF rated ones. UMF stands for Unique Manuka Factor, and it is by far the only way you can really tell if a batch of manuka honey is worth the money.

There are a variety of factors, the lowest of which is 5+ and the highest (that I have seen) is 24+. The higher the grade, the more antibacterial the honey properties are. Also, you can notice the difference in thickness. UMF 5+ is not very thick, while UMF 24+ is extremely thick, almost like a lollipop.

Comvita manuka honey carries a variety of different UMF grades. Their lower grades can serve you as table honey, and you can add it to your coffee or tea. If you can afford to spend $40 for a sweetener, that is.

The higher grade Comvita is really good for boosting your immune system. I take two spoons a day, just to keep the doctor away. One in the morning, and one in the evening. Haven't been sick for over 3 years now.

Also, high grade UMF is said to be able to cure a variety of indigestion diseases and conditions such as IBS and IBF. I know, they sound like tax collecting agencies, but believe me, they are worse.

I would recommend Comvita, because it is one of the better known brands out there. They are also one of the first manuka honey brands to go on the market, and outside of New Zealand. As such, they have dedicated many resources to research and innovate the industry.
